Let’s continue putting together everything you’ve learned thus far and write your third lesson plan for this course!

Hopefully, you feel like you are getting the hang of it…

Please first review these video instructions:

Here is the template again for your lesson plan: (Please see attachment)

For this Lesson Plan you will create a Science Lesson Plan for children aged 3, 4, or 5 years old.

*In your lesson plan, be sure to specify whether or not your lesson is focusing on Physical Science or Life Science.

Life science refers to the study of living organisms and life processes. For young children, the study of life science revolves around exploring the natural world, exposure to basic concepts, practicing scientific thinking skills, and developing basic domain-related vocabulary.

Physical science is the study of how things move, the structure and properties of matter and how nonliving things change forms (i.e., ice to water). Children can “immediately observe the results of their actions” as they engage with objects and materials

*Be sure to use the resources in the Module for supporting your diverse learners and creating appropriate accommodations.

For your lesson plan this week, please pay attention to the Accommodations section. You have lots of resources in the Module to ensure that you are providing appropriate accommodations for diverse learners.

Accommodations Section Snip.png

Accommodations you should consider might be:

children with sensory processing disorders,

children with visual impairments,

children with hearing impairments,

children with intellectual disabilities,

children who use wheelchairs,

children who are non-verbal,

children who do not speak English,

children with autism,

children with ADHD, etc.

When writing your lesson you need to address TWO of the exceptionalities above. How would you ensure that a child with one of these unique exceptionalities would be able to access your lesson?

Once again, you will think about one of the children you observed for the Observation and Assessment Assignment, and develop your lesson plan with them in mind.

Be sure to complete all components of the lesson plan template.
