I’m studying for my Statistics class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

Collect a set of data with at least 30 data points.The data should be quantitative which mean that it should be measured using numbers.You can be creative as you’d like, but here are some suggestions for things that you can survey:

  • The heights in inches of 30 people
  • The number of pages in 30 different books on a book shelf
  • The number hits earned by different professional baseball players in a season

Data sets can also be found in Triola’s website,statdisk, statcrunch and the internet, searching statistical data sets.I do not expect you to collect your own data for this assignment.

Create a visual representation of your data.Make a histogram with 5 classes.Make sure to label the axes with appropriate titles and incorporate the appropriate scale on each axis.

Respond to the following questions;

  • What are the mean and standard deviation of the set of data?
  • Are there any outliers that may be affected the mean and the standard deviation?
  • Does the data follow a normal distribution? Be sure to justify your answer.
  • If your sample follows a normal distribution, does that make sense to you?Why?
  • Determine the rule range of thumb (mean + or – 2 * stdev) for 95% of your data. Find the interval and then indicate the percentage of values in your data set that lies within the interval.
  • What are some possible sources of bias in your sample?
  • What did you do to ensure a valid sample?

or

If your sample does not follow a normal distribution, could it be skewed left or right, have a uniform

distribution or have some other shape.Why might this be the reason?
