You are a seventh grade student and you have sneaked a look at your report card; you’re horrified to find that you have gotten two F grades in English and in mathematics. You know that you will be asked to explain these grades to your parents. As you are looking at your grades, your good friend from class looks over your shoulder and takes a peek at your report card. Provide an explanation for (1) your parents and (2) your friends (e.g., “My grades in English and mathematics are bad because…”). You should make two of these statements total. Then, describe each attribution in terms of locus (internal vs. external), controllability (controllable or uncontrollable), and stability (unstable or stable). Compare and contrast the two attributions and make a hypothesis as to why the attributions are similar or different.
