The effects of synthetic dyes in food and beverages on the body

I will submit additional documentation for this paper in separate correspondence. The paper needs to be 5 pages long, double-spaced with 11 point font. No more than 5 sources should be used. The paper will focus on the following guiding question. “How can John Robbins improve No Happy Cows by adding a new chapter?” The thesis statement for this paper is ” Synthetic dyes used in food and beverages are far more harmful to the human body than sugar in foods. I have already drafted the first paragraph of the paper. It just needs more details added to it. ———————————————————————————- In the book, No Happy Cows, John Robbins explains how the Coca-Cola Company has been sued for adding 33 gram of sugars in their product, Vitamin Water. The lawsuit states that “ no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking Vitamin Water is a healthy beverage”. Now, is the amount of sugar in Vitamin Water the only reason to think Vitamin Water is not healthy? Take a minute to think about the color of Vitamin Water. It actually has different colors depending on the flavor. Pink is for strawberry, yellow is for lemon, and orange is for orange mango. Companies often depend on these ranges of colors to entice consumers to buy their product as colors are attention grabbers. Now you may be thinking, why is this important. Modern society has grown up with a plethora of colorful drinks and food, so much so that we don’t really pay too much attention to the underlying threat of synthetic dyes. Synthetic dyes, aka food coloring, are derived from coal tar and have been around since the turn of the 20th century. Currently they are used all over the world and have been a linked to health conditions for decades. In 1950, the U.S. Government banned Orange #1 due to many children becoming sick after consuming it on Halloween. In the 1970s, Red #2 was discovered to cause intestinal tumors and subsequently banned. Currently, there are seven colors that are still approved for use by the U.S. Government. Artificial food coloring has also been linked with hyperactivity and ADHD among children. This is quite alarming for parents, but one must wonder why they still give their children so much colorful food. ——————————————————————————————- The second paragraph needs to focus on “Synthetic dyes comparison between America and other countries (ie.Japan)”. The third paragraph needs to about “Alternatives to synthetic dyes” The first paragraph I drafted should not count towards the page count. I am ordering 4 pages to continue where I left off in the draft and for the introduction. This paper needs to tie back to the book “No Happy Cows”
