Only use credible websites. In this course, credible websites are defined as sites created by credentialed institutions and authors. Cite any information in MLA format. You must have a minimum of three (3) sources. For the dance selected you should include at least 3 sections. The first section will describe your initial reaction. In other words, what did you actually feel and think when you first looked at this dance work? In the second section, present your research. Then, present a concluding section which explains how your perspective has been affected by your research. Your final paper should be a minimum of three (3) pages in length. When writing your paper, remember that quality descriptions reflect much thought. This can only be accomplished if it is done with honesty, time, and consideration. To create quality conclusions, you must take time to reflect on your reactions. Don’t forget to edit and proofread your writing. When writing about dance, word choice is often particularly difficult. Utilize your text, a glossary, or a thesaurus to hone your choices. Avoid vague terms. For example, “pretty movement” is too general. In contrast, “the dancers swooped through each other as their arms reached toward the sky” is specific and descriptive. Utilize the Elements of Dance as a way to describe movement thinking about how space, time and energy/force were used in the work.
