You are to: 1. Select a destination or event; 2. Undertake desktop research of that destination/event, reviewing relevant marketing websites and articles. Customer reviews and feedback should also be considered; 3. Prepare a Report interpreting your selected destination/event utilising a variety of theoretical sources. In particular draw on the models that have been discussed in TOU101. The Report must be written in the 3rd person. Your Report should be written in such a way that another researcher could ‘replicate’ your research. Eg. Instead of “I visited the Sentosa Island Tourism Board website” (first person); use “A review of the Sentosa Island Tourism Board website was undertaken” (third person). The objectives of the research assignment are: 1. To provide students with material to link website research with theoretical knowledge. 2. To enhance the ability of students in sourcing web based information and applying it through a knowledge base of the phenomena of tourism and events. 3. To allow students to gain experience in Report writing. Method This should provide enough information for the reader to copy (replicate) the research (i.e. tell the reader how it was done). Results What was found that relates to the aims and objectives detailed in the introduction? This is the section that should include Tables and Figures (graphs, maps, photos etc). This tells the reader what you found. Discussion Relate the findings to a discussion of the theory of the Tourism System and the models that you have chosen.
